I’ve had 35 years of teaching!

February 21st, 2007

Today in calss we were able to have a master class with the technical manager of the Besen Hourse Performing Arts centre. I really enjoyed learning about the budget and how it is conducted in the real world. i think we should deffinately have a production meeting to discuss our budget as soon as possible guys…we need to discuss how many we want to seat in a house each night, and then ticket pricing etc. after we have done that we can start on splitting our budget between set, lighting, sound, costume, flyers, actual tickets, fast slides (jk) and all the rest. well i think we hsoudl have the meeting in class time because we are all there and its easier if we have everyone’s input.

I have the head shots thta i took in class and will begin to design a make up shceme for each character on the week end or on friday afternoon. I will to able to tell u, or give u a sheet of paper on monday with ur make-up requirements.

sweet as guys….loving the cosumtes nai xxxx

I LOVE CHARLS

February 20th, 2007

I feel that at the moment things are moving abit slowly, as we arent finished our first cold readinf of the script. The process hasnt really kicked off yet, but i think once we start rehersing and making a set, it will be incredible.
i think as a team, so far we are working really well together and as logn as keep discussion open and are honest with each other, that things will run smoothly the whol way with no obstacles….(such as directors storming out of rehersals, and refusing to participate and further…….) haha that was personal joke for ready steady Act! i hope u all caught on- well it was a reference to an incident that occured last year.

anywho. theatre rocks my world n u all me my giggle in my undies

Make- UP- stylish baby

February 19th, 2007

When i was given Make-up as my 2nd stagecraft element i decided  start my research about stage make-up in general. I learnt about the differences between stage make-up and everyday make-up.  I then researched which tryped of make-up were suited ot different skin colour and typed, to avoid and mix ups with allergies and reactions.

i then went around my house, and as a past dancer, i was able to gather up make- up from concerts. eg, foundation, lipsticks, blushers, eyes liners, mascaras and other condimeents.

Stagecraft selection process- oh yeh

February 19th, 2007

Ok so our play had been chosen, but we still needed to select our roles of stagecraft and set a cast.

As we are a theatre studies class, majority of people were keen on acting as one fo their elements, but the play only consists of 6 actors, 3 girls and 3 boys. there are 8 of us in the class so sadly not everyone could act.

first things first, we needed a director who was passionate and fit for the job! Scott has directed us in past theatre plays throughout the years so we knew that he was a reliable candidate and he recieved the job with honour. Kim was very passionate about set design and publicity and as she stepped down from acting took on these roles with pride. Yavin, Nai, Goof, Mel and I, were the most passionate about acting so were set as the cast, although without our characters.

we selected our 2 elements of stagecraft with maturity as Ready Steady Act became a relaity, we were now a production team,,,,ready to work!

the funky play selection process

February 19th, 2007

To select ‘After Dinner’, Ready steady Act went through a number of individual and group processes.

We were each given a booklet with brief synopsies of each possible play and we each chose one to research. After presenting our research in class we narrowed it down into a short list of our 3 favourite plays.

The next process involved analysing the scripts of the short listed, and having debates and class discussions about the play we were the most passionate about. There were some hurdles in the selection process as ‘After Dinner’, our favourite, had inapropriate scenarios in the script. however, we over came this hurdle with further discussion and forming ideas of how we can work around the dirty language.

The final process involved a vote. It was out of ‘the secrets bridesmaid business’, ‘Garys house’ and ‘After Dinner’. After dinner rose above the two, and we as a production team were very content with our choice.
